The British pop musician Barry Ryan is dead. The “Eloise” singer died on Tuesday, as his long-time friend Yusuf aka Cat Stevens announced on Instagram.
With “Eloise” he had his breakthrough at the end of the sixties, now Barry Ryan has passed away at the age of 72. As his long-time friend Cat Stevens announced on Instagram, the British pop singer died on Tuesday – just a few weeks before his 73rd birthday on October 24th.

“Yesterday a good old buddy of mine passed away, his name was Barry Ryan,” writes Yusuf about a photo taken with Ryan. “Our time together began in the 1960s when he and his twin brother Paul were tuxedo-clad pop teenage stars. I had written a song for Paul and Barry Ryan called ‘Keep It Out Of Sight,’ and so began we hang out with each other. “
The British singer became world famous in 1969 with “Eloise”. Schlager fans celebrate him mainly because of his German hit “Time only stops at the devil” from 1972. When his twin brother Paul died in 1992, Barry Ryan withdrew from the music business and instead devoted himself to fashion photography.
