Aristocracy: Bereavement with Gloria von Thurn und Taxis: mother died

These are difficult days for Gloria von Thurn und Taxis. Her mother has died and the noble family is in deep mourning. Despite her suffering, there is one circumstance that also gives Gloria consolation.

Gloria Fürstin von Thurn und Taxis (61) mourns her mother. Beatrix Countess von Schönburg-Glauchau died on Thursday at the age of 91 in a clinic in Regensburg, the family announced in the evening.

“God gave us a few more wonderful days with her, in which most of her family and friends could say goodbye to her,” said Thurn and Taxis, also on behalf of their brothers Alexander and Carl-Alban.

On November 6th there is to be a requiem for the deceased in the Kreuzkirche in Munich. The funeral is then planned in the circle of the closest family.

Beatrix von Schönburg-Glauchau was born in Hungary in 1930 and was the great-granddaughter of the statesman and social reformer Count István von Széchenyi. In 1956 she fled the communists to Germany and one year later married the journalist Joachim Graf Schönburg-Glauchau.

Gloria von Thurn und Taxis found moving words: «My mother was the head and center of the family. Your loss is shocking for all of us ». The 91-year-old fell at home and was then operated on in a clinic in Munich. But because she remained weak, she was then taken to a Regensburg clinic. “The doctors and especially the nursing staff of the Merciful Brothers have cared for them in an exemplary and loving manner”, praised the 61-year-old.

Gloria and her mother were closely connected and, among other things, shared their enthusiasm for the stage. In the summer of 2007, for example, they appeared together in guest roles at the opening of the Regensburg Castle Festival.

Gloria von Thurn und Taxis lost her father Joachim Graf von Schönburg-Glauchau in 1998, after her husband Johannes von Thurn und Taxis in 1990. Her older sister Maya died in 2019 at the age of 60.
