A good five months after his death, the remains of the British record fundraiser Captain Sir Tom Moore were buried.
The two daughters of the World War II veteran and other relatives walked through an honor trellis of students and representatives of non-profit organizations at the ceremony on Monday. The headstone, which was added to the family grave in the northwestern English county of West Yorkshire, has an engraved picture of “Captain Tom”, who died on February 2nd at the age of 100.
In the summer of 2020, the senior raised around 32.8 million pounds (about 37 million euros) for the National Health Service NHS with a donation run on his rollator – a world record. He became internationally famous and is considered a national hero. Queen Elizabeth II personally knighted him. At the funeral service at the end of February, “Captain Tom” was honored with military honors.
