“These are the facts: I originally left Rogue Squadron after a long and productive development process when it became clear it couldn’t happen soon enough and I didn’t want to delay Wonder Woman 3 any further. When I did, Lucasfilm asked me to consider returning to RS after WW3, which was an honor for me, so I accepted. They made a new deal with me. In fact, I’m still on it and that project has been in active development ever since. I don’t know if it will happen or not. We never do it until the development process is complete, but I look forward to its potential in the future.”
The filmmaker claims that she did not walk away from another Wonder Woman sequel, but studio sources had previously told the Deadline portal that yes, the same thing was replicated by various specialized media.
Jenkins continued: “When there started to be a backlash about WW3 not happening, the attractive fake clickbait story that I was the one who killed her, or walked away, started to spread. This is simply not true. I never walked away. She was open to consider anything that was asked of me. She understood that there was nothing she could do to move forward at this time. DC is obviously buried in the changes that they have to make, so I understand that these decisions are difficult at this time.”
“I don’t want what has been a beautiful journey with WW to end on a negative note. I’ve loved it and I’m very honored to be the person who was able to do these last two Wonder Woman movies. She is an amazing character. Living in and around her values makes one a better person every day. I wish her and her legacy an amazing future, with or without me.”
Jenkins’ statement comes after it was reported that his treatment for Wonder Woman 3 did not advance after his supposed disagreement with the notes of the new heads of DC, James Gunn Y peter safran.
Who referred to the director’s words was Gunn himself and also through his Twitter: “I can only say that Peter and I had pleasant and professional interactions with you”.
