Heinz Lieven: series star has died

The German actor Heinz Lieven died at the age of 93. He became known to TV viewers through numerous series.

Heinz Lieven (1928-2021) is dead. The German actor died on Monday (September 27) at the age of 93 in his hometown of Hamburg. That gave his agency.

Lieven was born in Blankenese in 1928. In 1948 he began his acting training in Hamburg and Berlin. From the 1960s he was in front of the camera for film productions, including “The Riddle of Piskov”. In the 1970s, Lieven made a name for himself as a television actor. He took part in “Tatort” episodes and was seen in series such as “Adelheid and Her Murderers”, “Neues vom Süderhof”, “Coast Guard”, “Notruf Hafenkante” or “Großstadtrevier”.

The German actor has also landed roles in international productions. These included “Mitten im Sturm” (2009), “Remember” (2015) and Paolo Sorrentino’s “Cheyenne – This Must Be the Place” (2011) with Sean Penn (61) in the lead role. In October 2020 Lieven was seen on ZDF in his last role as former Nazi lawyer Walter von Wenzel in the film series “Solo for White” in the episode “Sleepless”. During his career, Lieven has also appeared on numerous theater stages, including the Nationaltheater Mannheim, the Hamburger Kammerspiele and the Lübeck Theater.
