Winslet continued: “I would have told reporters, I would have responded to them, I would have said, ‘Don’t you dare treat me like that. I’m a young woman, my body is changing, I’m figuring it out, I’m deeply insecure, I’m terrified, don’t make this more difficult than it already is.’ That’s bullying, you know, and actually borderline abusive, I’d say.”
It’s not the first time Winslet has had to deal with embarrassing bodies during her decades-long career. The Oscar winner revealed in an interview with Sunday Times earlier this year she was told to settle for “fat girl” roles as a young actress in acting school. Later, when Winslet began booking movie roles, her agent was often asked the same question: “How’s her weight?”
“It can be extremely negative,” Winslet said of the pressures actresses face.. “People are subjected to scrutiny that is more than a vulnerable young person can bear. But in the movie industry it’s really changing. When I was younger, my agent would get calls saying, ‘How’s your weight?’ It is not a joke. So it’s heartwarming that this has started to change.”
As for the infamous and debated ending of titanicdirector James Cameron recently revealed that he conducted a scientific study to prove that both Jack and Rose could not have survived by floating together on the makeshift raft. The studio will air in February tied to a new 4K release of titanic On cinemas.
“We have done a scientific study to put an end to all this and drive a stake through his heart once and for all,” Cameron told The Toronto Sun. “Since then, we have done a thorough forensic analysis with a hypothermia expert who reproduced the raft in the movie and we are going to do a little special that will be released in February.”
Cameron continued: “We took two specialists who had the same body mass as Kate and Leo and we put sensors all over and in them and put them in ice cold water and tested to see if they could have survived through a variety of methods. and the answer was, there was no way both could have survived. Only one could survive.”
