Like H&M, C&A is revamping its storefronts. The XL area in particular falls victim to this. But that has nothing to do with discrimination, as a company spokeswoman pointed out star explained.
Due to the steadily growing online business, fashion houses all over the world are facing major challenges. With many brands you can now find offers online that are no longer available in stores. C&A has now decided to become more modern.
C&A: XL range no longer in stores
As “Stylebook” first reported, the company is eliminating the separate XL area in its stores. The news caused excitement. But at the request of star a company spokeswoman explained that there is more inclusion behind it, not less. “With the new concept, C&A is responding even more to the wishes and needs of customers in order to create a more inclusive shopping experience without strict divisions,” says C&A. “The XL portfolio is partly integrated into the core collection and partly presented in the online shop,” explains the spokeswoman.
However, you will still find XL sizes in stores. However, the wide range of clothing is integrated in the “largest shop area”: ”in our online shop”.
Plus Sizes on the Internet
One has in mind that competitor H&M was sharply criticized by customers for a similar decision. However, C&A emphasizes that they don’t want to “make any distinctions and mark certain areas that can also lead to exclusion”.
H&M already announced in 2020 that it only wanted to sell the Plus range online. The Swedish fashion house justified the decision back then with the fact that larger sizes were mainly bought online anyway.
The restructuring at C&A is now taking place step by step. “The portfolio will be adjusted gradually and not taken out overnight. Rather, we will see a transition phase next year, where the women’s XL area will initially only be adjusted in a large part of our stores,” said the spokeswoman.
