Having a famous half-sister who goes by the same surname does little for Lottie. On the contrary, being related to Kate Moss has been a challenge for her in the past.
Kate Moss could probably open every door of every fashion house and establish contact with the most important fashion designers. But her younger half-sister Lottie – also a model – benefited little from it. The 24-year-old revealed this in an interview with the British “Glamour” magazine.
Lottie Moss is not close to her half-sister Kate
“I didn’t realize how damaging it could be for mental health to be in the public eye at such a young age. Especially as the sister of Kate Moss, I was immediately in the spotlight and I always felt like I was in her shadow standing,” she explains of her beginnings in the modeling business when she was just 16 years old. “When I started out, I was always just Kate Moss’s sister. That was really hard for me growing up, especially since I wasn’t very close with my sister,” she says. The Moss sisters share the same father, Peter Edward Moss.
She was constantly asked about her half-sister. It was also bizarre for her that even friends of hers had pictures of Kate Moss hanging on their walls. “That really created a lot of fear of loss. It’s hard when you have someone who is ‘close’ to you and is doing exactly the same job as you, who is already well known in the industry but doesn’t get any advice or guidance,” she betrays.

And she talks about the pressure in the modeling industry to be as slim as possible. “As fashion week approached, I was told that if I wanted to walk the runway I had to be 58cm waist and 75cm hips. I’m 1.70m tall. Whenever I’m on set or ate at auditions, my agents laughed at me,” she says. She got no help from anyone, even when she collapsed on set because she didn’t fit into the intended clothes. “I would cry on set if I was too uncomfortable and they would just put my makeup on. I never got the support I needed from the people who were supposed to be taking care of me,” Moss reveals.

Today she earns enough money with her postings on Onlyfans. The payment platform, where influencers often post nude photos, doesn’t have a good reputation, but it was a lifesaver for Moss. “The modeling industry is so glorified and Onlyfans so demonized, but Onlyfans is the only place I’ve felt so strong and safe,” she explains in “Glamour”.
Moss also reveals that the countless negative headlines had affected her badly. Her self-esteem suffered, so she resorted to alcohol and drugs. In February, the model voluntarily went to a rehab clinic. Since then, Moss has been on a path of self-discovery, she says today.
