In 2002 Jennifer Aniston and Jake Gyllenhaal made the film “The Good Girl” together, in which they play lovers. The sex scenes were a real challenge for the 40-year-old, as he now reveals.
It’s been almost 20 years since Jennifer Aniston and Jake Gyllenhaal appeared in front of the camera together for the film drama “The Good Girl”. Aniston played a frustrated supermarket clerk who falls in love with a young colleague who dreams of a career as a writer. In an interview with US presenter Howard Stern, the actor revealed that it was not easy for Gyllenhaal to shoot the intimate love and sex scenes in the film.
“It was an ordeal, but somehow not. It was a mixture of both,” joked the 40-year-old. Because in his twenties, Gyllenhaal was so crazy about Jennifer Aniston. Miming lovers with her in front of the camera was a real challenge for him. “Love scenes are often uncomfortable because 30 to 50 people are watching. That doesn’t turn me on. Everything is as mechanical as a choreography in front of the camera. It’s no different than a fight scene, everything is precisely timed,” said Gyllenhaal.

To relax the situation a little, Aniston came up with the idea of placing a pillow between the two. “That was just a precautionary measure and was generally used whenever you were in a horizontal position in the film. Jennifer was very nice and suggested it before we started,” recalled Gyllenhaal.
At the time of filming, he was 22 years old and was still at the beginning of his career. Aniston, then 33, was married to Brad Pitt and had built a huge fan base through her role on Friends. However, it wasn’t the sitcom that sparked Gyllenhaal’s fascination with Aniston. “I’m not a big ‘Friends’ fan, but I like her personality and how she presents herself in public and in her films,” the actor told US magazine in 2016.
