Fred White, historic drummer for Earth, Wind & Fire, has died

“Our family is saddened by the loss of an incredibly talented family member, our beloved brother Frederick Eugene “Freddie” White. He joins our brothers Maurice, Monte and Ronald in heaven and is now playing drums with the angels”, wrote the bassist of the funk, soul and disco combo.

Accompanying the text with a photo of his brother taken at a concert, he added: “We thank everyone for your love, blessings and support at this time. Take flight, brother. We love you to heaven, back and forth”.

Frederick Eugene Adams He was born on January 13, 1955 in Chicago, Illinois, from where at a very early age he expressed his desire to dedicate himself to music when he began playing drums at the age of nine.

He worked as a session musician with artists such as Willie Hutch Y donny hathaway until in 1974, when he was barely 19 years old, he joined the group of his brothers for the album “That’s The Way of The World”.

His time as a member of Earth, Wind & Fireto which he provided his contribution as a drummer on records, singles and concerts, ended in the early eighties, a time when he returned to play for other artists of the time, although in 2000 he returned when the group was admitted to the Hall of Rock and Roll Fame.
