When parents-to-be’s shoe pinches

This is exactly what the Zoe association, based at Gruberstrasse 15 in Linz, offers. There, questions about pregnancy and childbirth are answered by specially trained specialists. Even when it comes to psychosocial care for prenatal diagnostics, Zoe is the right place for you. Because if there is one conspicuous finding, a world often collapses. It helps to reflect on this in peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the hospital.

“The importance of psychosocial counseling cannot be overestimated in the case of conspicuous prenatal diagnoses,” emphasizes Primary Wolfgang Arzt, head of the Institute for Prenatal Medicine at the Kepler University Hospital in Linz. The consultants also draw a positive balance.

“We experience time and again that it is good for those affected to have the space and time to cope with stressful findings,” reports Michaela Kaiser, Vice-Chairwoman at Zoe and a consultant herself. “Of course we also provide professional information on the possibilities, informative value and risks of prenatal diagnostics,” says Zoe prenatal advisor Martha Leeb.

By the way, Zoe is the only independent and sponsored advice center of this kind in Upper Austria. Since it was founded in 2002, more than 1300 consultations have been carried out. The offer is free of charge. (haas)
