After the tragic, much too early death of ski legend Rosi Mittermaier (1950-2023), her good friend Markus Wasmeier (59) gave an insight into the last few weeks of her life. : “Rosi was brave and positive, like she always was. Until the end”. According to Wasmeier, she reacted calmly to her devastating cancer diagnosis: “When she knew that she couldn’t go on, she accepted it”.

According to information from “Bild”, Mittermaier’s funeral will take place in the closest circle of friends and family, because the two-time Olympic champion, known for her down-to-earthness, “didn’t want any hustle and bustle”, as Wasmeier reveals. “She kept emphasizing how happy and fulfilled her life was.” According to Wasmeier, she did not have to worry about her survivors around her children Felix (38) and Ameli Neureuther (41), her grandchildren and husband Christian Neureuther (73) in the last few weeks of her life.

“They are a unit and firmly integrated into the circle of friends. Christian is calm – and not alone,” explains Schlierseer, who will take part in the family funeral himself. Wasmeier describes the devastating disease cancer as a “devil”. His wife Brigitte Wasmeier, who was diagnosed with abdominal cancer in 2012, just jumped off the shovel to death. “Thank God she made it. But shortly after that, my brother-in-law died of a brain tumor at the age of 42, six weeks after the diagnosis,” Wasmeier recalls of the difficult times at the time.
