Prince Damien: “Finally I was part of a group”

Prince Damien won far more than the crown in the jungle camp. To this day, the singer benefits from his time in Australia.

Prince Damien (32) has the RTL show “I’m a star – get me out of here!” won and thus became the king of the jungle. Even today, the singer is of the opinion that the jungle would have changed his life. In an interview with the news agency spot on news, the 32-year-old looks back on his time in Australia.

Prince Damien gives the candidates for the 16th season (January 13 at 9:30 p.m. on RTL), who are preparing to move into the camp, advice: “Just have fun. I had the jungle back then enjoyed it and saw it as a free adventure holiday that RTL paid for,” he says with a laugh. His best moment in the camp was making a fire together, and a “togetherness” developed. “Finally I was part of a group where I belong and can have fun,” he recalls.

In the jungle, he was only afraid of being picked out and having to move out early. He didn’t want to leave Australia at all. “I would have loved to have stayed in the countryside, continued to take tests and let the hot rangers spoil me.”

Even today, the jungle is represented almost every day in his life. “The jungle changed my life and that’s why I sometimes stand there and wonder how it all happened,” says the entertainer. His private life also took a turn for the better as a result of his experience. The innovations of the TV show, like the new presenter, he welcomes. “I think it’s great,” he says of the new moderation duo. Daniel Hartwich (44) was loved by everyone, but Jan Köppen (39) was an “adequate and good cast”.

His second adventure in Australia

From January 15th Prince Damien can be seen in “Dr. Bob’s Australia”. The well-known jungle camp doctor Dr. Bob (72) shows him and last year’s king of the jungle, Filip Pavlović (28), Western Australia. “Dr. Bob is a lot more approachable and a lot funnier behind the scenes than he is on the shows,” says Prince Damien of the reunion. He would let him adopt him anytime.

“In addition to many facts about nature, Dr. Bob taught me above all to enjoy the moment and to open up to people,” enthuses the Australia fan. At the time, the 72-year-old jungle camp favorite promised him off-camera that he would show him “his animals” if he were to fly out. Until the second visit to Australia, however, it remained only a dream.

“Now going on a full vacation with Dr. Bob and my sweetheart Filip was like winning Make A Wish,” says Prince Damien. He would also take part in the jungle camp “immediately and without a doubt” again today. “Would I get far again? I don’t think so.”
