MADOFF_ The Monster of Wall Street _ Official Trailer _ Netflix.mp4
In its four chapters of less than an hour each, the series tells how Madoff went from being an unknown young man to a Wall Street legend, and that while he had a legitimate business he set up another parallel, which he kept hidden, of supposed investments that promised juicy returns.
The truth is that Madoff, who was arrested in 2009 and died in prison in 2021, never in the several years that he maintained that dark business invested a single dollar of what he received. The ponzi scheme with which he defrauded thousands of people was worth more than $64 billion and caused losses around the world.
And it also shows that it was not a solitary move as was believed, but that it had the collaboration of several accomplices who enriched themselves with the scam.
But also that the US regulatory authorities had Madoff in their sights, but after investigating him they did not detect anything irregular.
As the Netflix synopsis explains, the series “has had exclusive access to whistleblowers, employees, investigators, and victims, as well as unpublished video statements by Madoff himself, thanks to which he narrates his journey from his humble beginnings until he became a one of the most powerful stockbrokers on Wall Street.”
The docuseries is directed by Joe Berlinger responsible for fictions such as Scene of the crime. Disappearance at the Cecil Hotel and Brother’s Keeper and the recent Conversations with Murderers: The Ted Bunny Tapes and Conversations with Murderers. The Jeffrey Dahmer tapes.
