Lisa Maria Presley was the only child of rock and roll legend. She died last week of cardiac arrest at the age of 54. Her half-brother, musician Navarone Garibaldi, mourns the loss of his half-sister and pays tribute to her death by posting a childhood photo on Instagram.
“I hope you are at peace and happy now with your father and son by your side”. Lisa Marie’s son Benjamin Keough took his own life in July 2020 at the age of 27. Her father Elvis Presley died in August 1977. At the time Lisa Marie was only nine years old.
Garibaldi calls Lisa Marie his “big sister” and mentions that the last few years have not been easy for her. “I wish things had been different between us,” he continued. “Nevertheless, you are my sister and I send you love and prayers for your journey home. I still can’t believe it, words fail me. I love you sis. Beijos. 💔.”
Lisa Marie Presley’s life was one of loss. She witnessed her father Elvis Presley collapse and die. “My dad is dead,” she is said to have said at the time. By her teenage years, Presley was already using so many drugs that her family sought help from the sect of Scientology. Painkillers, opioids and cocaine – Presley fell into a vicious cycle. In 2019, she explained in a foreword to a book about the opioid crisis in the US: “You may be reading this and wondering how, after losing people close to me, I was able to take opioids too. It only took a short-term prescription of opioids in the hospital so I felt the need to keep taking them.”

On Tuesday had her last appearance at the Golden Globe Awards. On Thursday morning, the musician was hospitalized because of a possible cardiac arrest. Her mother eventually announced her death. In her statement, Priscilla Presley said: “It is with a heavy heart that I share the devastating news that our beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has passed away.”
Lisa Marie now finds her final resting place at Graceland, alongside her son Ben.
