By Frederic Loebnitz
One of the first to announce Gina Lollobrigida’s death was none other than Italian Culture Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano. He posted a photo of the film diva on Twitter and ended his tweet with the words: “Your fascination will last forever.” Gina Lollobrigida was never just an actress, she was a symbol of Italy, an ambassador of the country’s beauties, an icon of the “dolce vita”. And so Lollobrigida received the nickname “Gina nazionale” from her compatriots, Gina Lollobrigida: a national treasure.
