Great concern for Julian Sands (65): The “Ocean’s 13” actor did not return home after a hike in Southern California and is now wanted by authorities. his family had already reported Sands missing last Friday evening (January 13). The local sheriff confirmed this to the magazine.
“A search party was dispatched but was called off on Saturday due to weather conditions,” it said. Weather permitting, helicopters and drones would continue to explore the mountains.
Authorities warn against migration
The British actor climbed Mount San Antonio on Friday – a popular peak for hikers in summer and a challenge in winter. The 45 to 50 degree steep slopes can only be climbed in good snow conditions. Since no trees grow on its summit, the mountain near Los Angeles is also known as Mount Baldy, i.e. “bald man”.
Most recently, local authorities in nearby San Bernadino County warned even experienced climbers against climbing the mountain. There were currently “extremely dangerous” conditions due to snow and ice. Local rescue workers have been alerted 14 times in the past month for missing or injured people. Two hikers even fell to their deaths. In addition to Julian Sands, another man is currently missing.
