Chrissy Teigen often talks about personal things and private moments on social media. Now the US model and her husband, pop superstar John Legend, share some good news.
US model Chrissy Teigen (37) and her husband, musician John Legend (44), have become parents again. “She’s here! Esti Maxine Stephens – the house is busy and our family couldn’t be happier,” Teigen wrote on Instagram on Thursday. She also posted a photo of daughter Luna (6) and son Miles (4) holding the baby wrapped in a blanket.
Legend wrote on his Instagram account about the family picture that the girl was born last Friday. He admires his wife’s strength and resilience, the Grammy Award winner said. According to his own statements, Teigen gave birth by caesarean section.
The birth news was enthusiastically commented on by prominent friends and colleagues and many fans. “Happy birthday sweet family,” wrote model Christie Brinkley. Stars like Angela Bassett, Viola Davis and Kris Jenner also congratulated.
Couple lost child at 20 weeks of pregnancy
The couple, who has been married since 2013, made Teigen’s pregnancy public in August after losing their third child, a boy, at 20 weeks pregnant in October 2020. Back then, she had a medically necessary procedure carried out after learning that her boy would not survive in her stomach, Teigen wrote a few weeks after the procedure in a lengthy essay that appeared on the online publishing platform Medium. Her own life would also have been in danger if she had continued the pregnancy.
Last September, Teigen spoke again about the traumatic experience at a conference in the USA. She had to “make a lot of difficult and heartbreaking decisions” to protect her own life. She described the procedure as “an abortion to save my life rather than that of a baby who had absolutely no chance.”
At first they themselves spoke of a miscarriage. It took more than a year to understand that it was actually an abortion, Teigen said. She came to this conclusion after the US Supreme Court (in June 2022) overturned the liberal abortion law in the United States with a landmark ruling. With its decision, the mostly conservative court paved the way for stricter laws on abortions.
