The dispute over guardianship over Spears’ finances and personal freedom comes to a head. After her manager, her longtime lawyer is now stepping down.
Britney Spears’ longtime attorney, who represents the US singer in her guardianship dispute, wants to resign from this task.
Sam Ingham and a law firm in Los Angeles have filed an application in court, US media reported. The promiportal “TMZ.com” put the court documents on the net. Accordingly, Ingham wants to be relieved of his duties as soon as the court has appointed a new lawyer.
The day before, the long-time manager of pop star Britney Spears had resigned. Larry Rudolph, who has worked for the pop star (Baby One More Time, Toxic) since the mid-1990s, said he hadn’t spoken to Spears for over two years. His professional services would no longer be needed.
Ingham, a lawyer, has been at Spears’ side since 2008 after the singer collapsed mentally due to professional and personal problems and a court gave her father the guardianship.
Most recently, the dispute over the guardianship of Spears’ finances and her personal freedom had come to a head. The 39-year-old had called for an end to guardianship in an emotional court hearing in June. Spears said she felt taken advantage of by her family and managers. She is controlled and cannot determine her own life. She also said she wanted to choose her own lawyer.
