One is an actor, the other a musician – but optically they could pass as brothers: Matthias Schweighöfer and Tim Bendzko are often confused with one another. The 40-year-old revealed in an interview.
The actor and filmmaker Matthias Schweighöfer calmly accepts the often strained resemblance to the musician Tim Bendzko. “A woman came to me at the gas station, excited and enthusiastic: Tell me, aren’t you … And then she started singing: ‘Just have to save the world for a moment …'”, said the 40-year-old the “Süddeutsche Zeitung” from the weekend. “I am sometimes mistaken for Tim Bendzko. But I know that he is also mistaken for me. That is why we have officially agreed: We can perform on behalf of the other.”
Bendzko was born in East Berlin in 1985 and is four years younger than Schweighöfer, who also comes from the former GDR. The actor was born in 1981 in Anklam, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. After his parents separated, he grew up with his mother Gitta Schweighöfer, who worked as an actress in the theater.
New Netflix film with Matthias Schweighöfer
Matthias Schweighöfer can currently be seen in the cinema in the film “Hinterland”. At the end of October the comedy “Army of Thieves” starts on Netflix. Schweighöfer directed the film and took on one of the leading roles. His partner, actress Ruby O. Fee, also appears in the Netflix production.
