Prince Andrew wants to clear his name – whatever the cost

Prince Andrew wants to reverse his agreement with Virginia Giuffre and takes the costly retaliation to court. He is said to have set aside more than eleven million euros for this. US lawyers strongly advise against this step.

Convicted sex offender Ghislaine Maxwell submits: In her first interview, Jeffrey Epstein’s accomplice stated that the world-famous picture of Prince Andrew, Virginia Giuffre (née Roberts) and her was a fake (read more here). The prince himself is apparently of the same opinion, because various media reports that he wants to challenge the out-of-court settlement with Giuffre in a US court.

Prince Andrew uses the Queen’s legacy

Prince Andrew had always insisted that he had never had any contact with Virginia Giuffre. However, earlier last year he reportedly paid Giuffre and her charity a hefty sum, allowing him to reach an out-of-court settlement. British newspapers called a sum of around 14 million euros. The agreement contained no formal acknowledgment of guilt or apology from the prince.

Now Andrew is supposed to start again to get the matter out of the way. The “Sun” reports that he has set aside around eleven million euros to fight for his reputation in the United States. Part of the money is said to come from the inheritance of Queen Elizabeth II, who is said to have left her son “several millions”. Andrew is said to have built up additional reserves for what is probably the most important fight of his life from the sale of his Swiss chalet.

The Sun quoted a Palace insider as saying: “Andrew has always said he is innocent. He now wants to prove that in a US court. He has been pressured to settle the case in order to celebrate the platinum anniversary not to be overshadowed, and has paid a heavy price for it personally and professionally.” King Charles III, it is said, was pleased with his brother’s efforts. As head of state, he cannot make this public, but he stands behind Andrew.

US lawyers strongly advise against it

Apparently, this news is not well received in the United States. As “Mirror” reports, various lawyers agree that the planned step is not effective. A top lawyer said Andrew “should forget it” and “be glad he’s not in jail.”

Lawyer Lisa Bloom, who represents several of Epstein’s victims, finds similar words. She said an exit from the agreement between Andrew and Giuffre will not happen. Literally she said: “Leave her alone. Keep your agreement. Stand your ground.”

“Mirror” quotes Spencer Kuvin, also a lawyer for some Epstein victims, with approval: “It’s unbelievable. His chances of overturning a negotiated and agreed settlement are about as likely as Epstein’s coming back to life.”

In order to challenge the agreement between Andrew and Giuffre, the prince’s lawyers would now have to prove that there was error, accident, fraud or coercion.

The Telegraph reports that Andrew is motivated not only by his conviction and Maxwell’s testimony, but also by another sexual abuse lawsuit filed by Virginia Giuffre against US Attorney Alan Dershowitz. In November, Giuffre withdrew that lawsuit, saying “she was wrong”. For Andrew, this is another reason to question Guiffre’s credibility in court.
