Last year, the actress, who also starred in the recent films of star trekhe told the portal Women’s Wear Daily that she sometimes felt creatively “stuck” making franchise films.
“I feel like for the last 10 years of my life, I’ve been stuck. I felt stuck doing these franchises.”Saldana said. “I’m so grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given, collaborating with amazing directors and meeting cast members I consider friends and being able to play a role that fans, especially kids, love.”
“But,” she added, “it also meant that I felt artistically trapped in my craft of not being able to expand, grow or challenge myself by playing different kinds of genres and different roles.”
Later in December, she clarified those comments, reiterating that she is “grateful” for big film projects.
