Adele reveals in an interview with the US “Vogue” that she drank too much alcohol in her twenties. The singer was afraid of losing control and ending up like Amy Winehouse.
Singer Adele is back in public with two exclusive interviews in the American and British “Vogue”. Since the release of her last album “25” in 2015 it had become quiet around the British. But now Adele has announced new music, the first single from the album “30” should be released on October 15th and is entitled “Easy On Me”.
“There is no such thing as a bombastic ‘Hello’. I don’t want a song like that again. This song has catapulted me to another level in terms of fame that I don’t want to experience again,” Adele told the US “Vogue” about her new one Plate. With the ballad “Hello”, the Briton celebrated gigantic successes in 2015.
At the same time, Adele’s statements make it clear that she is still struggling with her fame. There was a time in the past when she thought about quitting music completely because she didn’t want to be in the limelight, said the 33-year-old. Adele worried that she might end up like singer Amy Winehouse, who died of alcohol poisoning in 2011 at the age of only 27 after a brilliant career.
Adele: “I was always very fascinated by alcohol”
“I’ve always had a very close relationship with alcohol. I was always very fascinated by alcohol. It was he who kept my father away from me. So I always wanted to know what’s so great about it,” said Adele, whose parents themselves separated when she was four years old. She always had a difficult relationship with her father, Mark Evans. The 57-year-old struggled with alcoholism for a long time and died of cancer in May of this year. Before his death they were reconciled, Adele told Vogue.
But alcohol was always very present in Adele’s life. “When I produced ’21’ I was drunk. I really don’t remember much. I just remember that I was very sad,” she confessed to British Vogue. The album was released in 2011, in the same year she met her husband Simon Konecki, from whom she has since divorced.
Not only her problems with alcohol, but also her numerous toxic relationships are due to the difficult relationship with her father, Adele said. “Throughout my life, relationships with men have always been like this: You’re going to hurt me, so I’ll hurt you first. It’s totally harmful and it has kept me from being really happy.”
Meanwhile, the British woman is in a relationship with the US sports agent Rich Paul. He was funny, smart and wouldn’t be intimidated by her fame, enthused the singer.
