Pop singer Angelo Kelly has had tragic experiences with alcohol in his family. He himself would have liked alcohol “too much”, he admits on a talk show. Kelly now completely dispenses with it.
Alcohol is an everyday stimulant for many people, but enjoyment can also lead to addiction. Sometimes so fast that some people don’t realize it in time. Pop singer Angelo Kelly recognized this danger in himself – and therefore pulled the ripcord. “I don’t drink anymore,” he explained on the MDR talk show “Riverboat”.
On the show, Kelly made no secret of his past drinking and his current abstinence. “An Irishman who doesn’t drink anymore. That’s something, isn’t it?” joked the former Kelly Family member. But when asked why he had given up alcohol, he answered quite seriously: “Because I liked it too much to enjoy it before.”

“I haven’t touched alcohol for almost a year,” said the youngest of the Kelly family. A tragic warning example can be found in the closest family: father Dan Kelly, head of the very musical “Kelly Family”, suffered from depression and alcohol addiction after the early death of his wife. He died in 2002 at the age of 71. His children had spoken openly about their father’s problems in TV shows and documentaries in the past.
His daughter Kathy Kelly said in the Vox documentary “The Kelly Family – The Journey Continues”: “He started at the bar downstairs, then it went to Notre Dame. I prayed a rosary there. I always had a cape to make people think I’m a man. Sometimes he was so drunk he couldn’t make it up here. Sometimes I waited until three or four in the morning. I knew if I didn’t take him to the hotel , then the children will be taken away from him.”
