Urie announced the breakup on Instagram today, explaining that he and his wife Sarah are expecting their first child and that he wants to “put my focus and energy on my family.”
Formed in 2004 in Las Vegas by old friends Urie, ryan ross, Spencer Smith Y brent wilson. With only Urie remaining from the original lineup, the band has essentially become his solo project.
The full statement:
“Growing up in Las Vegas, I could never have imagined where this life would take me. So many places around the world and all the friends we’ve made along the way.
But sometimes a journey must end for a new one to begin. We’ve been trying to keep it under wraps, though some of you may have heard… Sarah and I are expecting a baby very soon! The prospect of being a father and being able to watch my wife become a mother is both sobering and exciting.. I look forward to this next adventure.
With that being said, I am going to end this chapter of my life and put my focus and energy on my family, and with this Panic! At The Disco will no longer exist.
Thank you all for your immense support over the years. I’ve sat here trying to find the perfect way to say this and I really can’t put into words how much it has meant to us. Whether you’ve been here from the beginning or just found us, It has been a pleasure not only to share the stage with so many talented people, but also to share our time with you.. I am really looking forward to seeing everyone in Europe and the UK for one last race together.
