The superhero movie that for Steven Spielberg deserved to be nominated for an Oscar

“I’m really encouraged by that,” he said. “[Pero] he was late for the film that should have been nominated several years ago, Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight”.

“That movie definitely would have garnered a Best Picture nomination today, so having these two blockbusters perform solidly on the top 10 list is something we should all be celebrating.”

Released in 2008, Dark Knight acted as a catalyst for the Academy’s decision to expand the list of Best Picture nominations from five to 10. The film was nominated for five Oscars, and Heath Ledger he posthumously won Best Supporting Actor.

In addition to Avatar: The Way Of Water Y Top Gun: Maverickthis year’s Best Picture nominees include Spielberg’s new film The Fabelmans, All Quiet on the Western Front, The Banshees of Inisherin, Elvis, Everything Everywhere All at Once, TÁR, Triangles of Sadness Y Women Talking.

Top Gun: Maverick received six nominations in total, tying with TÁR of Todd Fields. The Way Of Water, for its part, received four nominations.
