Lisa Loring, the actress who first played Merlina Addams, has died

“It is with great sadness that I report the death of our friend, Lisa Loring. 4 days ago she suffered a massive stroke caused by smoking and high blood pressure. She had been on life support for 3 days. Yesterday her family made the difficult decision to have it removed and she passed away last night,” Jacobson reported in the social media post.

She continued: “She is embedded in the tapestry that is pop culture and in our hearts forever as Merlina Addams.. Beautiful, kind, a loving mother, Lisa’s legacy in the world of entertainment is enormous. And her legacy to her family and her friends: a great deal of humor, affection and love will remain in our memories for a long time. RIP, Lisa. Damn, girl… you were so much fun.

Loring’s work as Merlina Addams had recently resurfaced after her portrayal of Jenna Ortega of the iconic character in the series Netflix. Loring was the original Merlina in the first live-action adaptation of the New Yorker cartoons of Charles Addams. The show produced 64 episodes between two seasons from 1964 to 1966.

After The Addams FamilyLoring, who was born as Lisa Ann DeCinces in Kwajelein, Marshall Islands, on February 16, 1958, she appeared on multiple shows including The Phyllis Diller Show, The Girl from UNCLE, and Fantasy Island.

Loring reprized her role as Merlina in 1977 in the TV movie Halloween with the New Addams Family. His last acting credit was in 2015 with the movie Doctor Spine.
