The presence of the Jackson estate on the project grants the rights to the artist’s music catalog but has led some to question how protective they will be, but clearly things will need to be explored for the film to have a dramatic edge and enough veracity to resist public and critical scrutiny.
The film is being produced by graham kingwho turned the story of Freddy Mercury in the blockbuster Bohemian Rhapsody. GK Films will produce along with co-executors of the Jackson estate, John Branca and John McClain.
Fuqua is currently finishing The Equalizer 3 with Denzel Washington in Italy, and then turn his attention to the film about Jackson. Production will begin later this year, and the filmmaker will be joined by the director of photography for Emancipation and The Equalizer 3, Robert Richardson.
