Eight of the 14 nominees are on the shortlist for the first time, including Sheryl Crow, Missy Elliott, Joy Division/New Order, Cyndi Lauper, George Michael, Willie Nelson, The White Stripes and Warren Zevon. This is the first year of eligibility for Elliott and the duo of Jack White and Meg White.

“This remarkable list of nominees reflects the diversity of artists and music that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame honors and celebrates,” he said. john sykes, President of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. “These artists have created their own sounds that have impacted generations and influenced many others who have followed in their footsteps.”

The nominees’ ballots will be sent to an international voting body of more than 1,000 artists, historians and members of the music industry. Consideration is given to an artist’s musical impact and influence on other artists, the length and depth of their career and body of work, as well as innovation and superiority in style and technique.

Members will be announced in May. The 2023 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place in the spring and the date and location will be announced at a later date.
