Heartbreak on the dance floor – that’s how the American singer with Albanian roots would have liked to see her second album “Diamonds & Dancefloors”. In the 14 songs, she has processed two breakups as well as the longing that cannot be satisfied for a long time, simply to dance out into life and to meet people in the clubs, on the dance floors. So party and heartbreak.
It’s primarily a party that Ava invites Max to. The supporting hands of songwriters and producers are of the highest caliber, ranging from Henry Walter, who has hits for Maroon 5 and Miley Cyrus, to OneRepublic singer and prolific songwriter Ryan Tedder, making it clear how the album should be evaluated. The best was just good enough.
This is also how the songs present themselves, all of which are carved out of the wood that almost guarantee hits. Good and beautiful. But if you move under the disco ball several times, you will find that you can dance to all of Ava Max’s songs, but that you don’t automatically have to remember much of it. “Maybe You’re The Problem”, “Get Outta My Heart” and, to a lesser extent, “One Of Us” have a slightly longer effect. “Diamonds & Dancefloors” is styled pop for the 2020s. It’s always good for dancing.
