Former child star, today dependent on social benefits: the actress Susanna Wellenbrink currently lives on only 700 euros a month.
The actress Susanna Wellenbrink (46) cannot afford to make big leaps financially. As she tells in an interview with “Bunte” magazine, she currently lives on only around 700 euros per month. The daughter of the famous Melitta man Egon Wellenbrink (76) and half-sister of the singer Nico Santos (28) is dependent on state support payments: “Until a few months ago I received Hartz IV.” Currently, she only has child benefit for her two sons and an advance maintenance payment from the youth welfare office.
That is “around 700 euros a month,” explains Wellenbrink. However, despite the unfavorable financial situation, she is apparently not doing badly: “We have little and yet everything we need”. Wellenbrink, who was born in Munich, was considered a real child star at an early age and had her first role at the age of only nine in the series “Die Krimistunde”. She became known to most TV viewers thanks to her leading role in the series “The Happy Family” from 1987 to 1991 as daughter Tami at the side of Maria Schell (1926-2005) and Siegfried Rauch (1932-2018).
In 1993 she even received the Golden Camera as the best young German actress for her performance in the TV drama “Mother at 16”. This was followed by roles in the ARD soap “Marienhof” or in series such as “Frauenarzt Dr. Markus Merthin” or “Die Rosenheim-Cops”. Her daughter Mia-Sophie (22) also worked as a child actress from 2005 to 2009. With her scream “Fruchtalarm” she advertised the “Froop” yoghurt and even celebrated a small chart success as a singer.
