In the 40-minute version by Nora Dirisamer, Meinhard, the country mouse, is an old rocker, while Charly, the city mouse, is a hip-hopper. “It’s a snappy, snappy piece with lots of wit,” says Caroline Ghanipour. The director from Augsburg is working for the Children’s Theater for the first time. In the story for children from the age of three, the two mice show each other their world: “It’s a plea for tolerance,” says theater manager Andreas Baumgartner. “Both worlds are presented, neither is better. Everyone should and may live in their own world.” Thanks to projections by Georg Lindorfer, the mice switch back and forth between the worlds in a matter of seconds.
Theater boss Baumgartner has a lot to do behind the scenes. Actor Matthias Hacker left the ensemble at the end of January for health reasons. That’s why two pieces (“Miss Sonnenschein” and “Auf Ötzi’s Footsteps”) are discontinued. Christian Lemperle can be seen as a guest in the first two performances of “The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse” and is then relieved. Overall, however, the theater has been stormed by audiences since the fall, says Baumgartner: “All our performances are sold out.”
The premiere will take place on February 17 at 10 am, further dates include February 18 at 3 pm. Info: theater-des-kindes.at
