Red suit, mischievous grin, mischievous in the neck – that’s only once? Wrong thought, by “TV total” Stefan Raab was looking for a double for his sidekick Elton and actually found him in Saxony. Now Mirko Thiele died at the age of 45, as the entertainer announced on his Facebook page.
In a post, Elton recalls the search for the doppelganger for himself and regrets the early death of his lookalike: “Unfortunately, bad and sad news has reached me. As part of #eltontv, we were looking for a doppelganger of mine on the TV show and we found one. Resemblance was amazing, only the dialect was… shall we say… getting used to.”with which the entertainer alludes to the Saxon dialect of his double.
Doppelganger as Elton’s stand-in on shows
It was also the dialect that made Thiele play when he first appeared “Elton” first noticed, as he later revealed: “But they noticed when I opened the Gusche. After my performance, Raab enlightened the studio.”
In the right clothes (red suit, checked shirt) and with their mouths closed, however, Elton and Thiele were easily confused. This even went so far that Elton occasionally joined “TV total” was represented by Mirko Thiele: “He even represented me worthy on TV Total when I was away elsewhere.”
“I hope you took the red jacket with you”
The farewell to Thiele is all the more emotional, as Elton writes on his Facebook page: “Now Mirko died suddenly, unexpectedly and far too early. My condolences go out to all the bereaved who knew and loved him. Of course, the family is the worst affected.” But Elton still has one hope: “Dear Mirko, I hope you took the red jacket with you and are entertaining up there and keep playing embarrassing or cashing in.”
