Moderator Alexander Bommes will soon be back on television after his health-related break.
The reunion with “Sportschau” and “Gefraget – Gejagt” moderator Alexander Bommes (47) is apparently imminent after his illness-related break. “The ‘Sportschau’ is currently planning again with Alexander Bommes from March. If he is not fit again by then, we will fill the relevant programs with other presenters”, .
No Handball World Cup
At the beginning of January it was announced that Bommes would not moderate the men’s handball world championship in Poland and Sweden alongside ex-world champion Dominik Klein (39) as planned. Presenter Stephanie Müller-Spirra (39) stepped in for Bommes.
“After a year in which I, like many people, had to accept some health restrictions, I want to complete my further recovery and therefore refrain from moderating this year’s Handball World Cup. Dominik Klein is in competent and friendly hands with Stephanie – and I’m very happy about that,” the native of Kiel was quoted as saying at the time.
He was already absent from the World Cup
Bommes already had to miss the World Cup in Qatar “for health reasons”. At that time, ARD presenter Jessy Wellmer (43) replaced him and sat next to Almuth Schult (32), Thomas Hitzlsperger (40) and Sami Khedira (35).
ARD sports coordinator Axel Balkausky (60) was saddened by Bommes’ failure: “The entire ARD team and I am very sorry for Alex Bommes that he has to give up the World Cup and we wish him the same better as soon as possible.”
