Corona pandemic: Almost 700,000 vaccinations on Tuesday – 40 percent mark is approaching

Soon 40 percent of the population in Germany will be vaccinated against the corona virus. Jens Spahn calls for the pace to be maintained in July and August – Delta is on everyone’s mind.

The quota of people fully vaccinated against the coronavirus in Germany is expected to pass the 40 percent mark on Thursday. On Wednesday, according to the Robert Koch Institute (as of 1:20 p.m.), the rate was 39.9 percent.

According to the information, almost 700,000 vaccinations were given on Tuesday. More than 47.5 million people (57.1 percent) have received at least one vaccination, around 33.2 million people are fully vaccinated. So far there have been a total of 78.7 million corona vaccinations in Germany. “Even if the pace is still high: We need a national vaccination jolt to keep it going in July and August,” wrote Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) on Twitter about the new vaccination numbers.

Bremen still has the highest proportion of first-time vaccinations among the federal states, at 65.9 percent. Only Saxony has not yet reached the 50 percent mark (48.8). With 45 percent, Saarland has the highest proportion of fully vaccinated residents. Brandenburg is at the bottom of the ranking with 36.3 percent.

The vaccination campaign against the Sars-CoV-2 pathogen began in Germany at the end of last year. First, it was the turn of people over 80, residents of old people’s and nursing homes and medical staff. Among other things, chronically ill people with an increased risk of a serious and fatal course are also given preference. People can now try to make an appointment regardless of the list of priorities that was previously in effect.
