Emmanuel Macron takes on responsibility: as French President – and as a penalty taker on the football field.
As a statesman in a neat suit, French President Emmanuel Macron usually acts on the political floor. Now the 43-year-old played half-time in a soccer game on Thursday and also scored a penalty.
In the Paris suburb of Poissy, the president played as a midfielder with the Variétés Club de France at a charity match. The occasion was the 50th birthday of the club, in which former professional players and others have teamed up for friendship and charity games, as announced by the Élysée Palace.
The proceeds of the game with Macron against a hospital team go to a hospital foundation. For after the game, the President invited members and volunteers of the club to dinner – in the Elysée Palace.
