Michelle Yeoh is the first Asian woman to win a SAG award for best actress and her designer dress is also the talk of the town. For Jessica Chastain, however, her robe became a stumbling block.
The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards were presented in Los Angeles for the 29th time. They are among the most important prizes in the industry and are seen as a harbinger of the upcoming Oscars in mid-March. Among the evening’s winners was actress Michelle Yeoh.
The 60-year-old received the Best Actress trophy for her performance in the film Everything Everywhere All at Once. Yeoh outperformed Cate Blanchett, Ana de Armas and Viola Davis, among others, to become the first Asian to win the category. That’s why she dedicated her prize to every girl “who looks like me”. Her Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown also caused a stir. A row of gold sequins was attached to the front. Some fans on social networks jokingly compared them to French fries.
