Actually, King Charles III. celebrate yourself and the monarchy at the beginning of May. But so far nothing seems to be working properly. The preparations for the coronation become a stress test.
Become king for once and in front of the eyes and cameras of the world. For a long time, King Charles III. waited for this moment, after all, his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, stayed on the throne for a proud 70 years.
King Charles III still needs a top-class musical act
On May 6th of this year the time has finally come: Charles and his wife Camilla will be crowned in Westminster Abbey. Music acts already confirmed include Olly Murs, Lionel Richie, Take That (though without Robbie Williams) and Minogue sisters Kylie and Dannii. A nice line-up but the really big names are missing from the list.
As the “Sun” recently reported, Sir Elton John, Harry Styles and the Spice Girls have already turned Charles down. Adele and Ed Sheeran can’t fit the coronation into their schedules either.
Cost of Living Crisis
But that’s not all: In Great Britain, the coronation planning sparked a discussion. After all, the country’s citizens are suffering from the devastating rise in the cost of living. Royal expert Omid Scobie, who is said to be close to Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan, expressed his opinion in an article on Yahoo News. He thinks Charles’ plan is “hypocritical”. In his Christmas speech, the king finally turned to his people and offered them support.
“In September, palace sources confirmed that Charles wanted a ceremony that not only reflected his vision of a more agile and modern monarchy, but was also ‘less expensive’ given the country’s ongoing economic woes,” Scobie wrote. “Though three months later, although a coronation committee presented its plans, the king and ministers decided to scrap the meager celebrations and have a big celebration instead,” the author says. While one of the longest-running crises is wreaking havoc in Britain, a bad omen for Scobie.

Hustle and bustle around Frogmore Cottage
But not only music acts and the impoverished people should give Charles headaches. It has just become known that Charles is throwing the Sussexes, Meghan and Harry, out of their Frogmore Cottage property and wants to accommodate the disgraced Prince Andrew there. An interesting move, at least from a PR perspective, given what people think of Andrew. In addition, it had just become quiet around the royals and the ex-royals in California. Charles’ decision seems like a belated revenge, the timing unfortunate to say the least.
There is still enough time until the beginning of May to find a few willing artists for the coronation stage. Two other problems remain: national crisis and family crisis – these are far more difficult to solve.
