Last week the Constitutional Court sentenced Zuma to a prison term of 15 months for disregarding a subpoena. Zuma has to answer to a commission of inquiry for various allegations of corruption during his term of office and had not followed a court summons. It is the first time ever that a former president of the country has been sentenced to prison. His term in office from 2009 to 2018 was overshadowed by allegations of corruption.
