Conventional cosmetic products contain a long list of different active ingredients that only a chemist understands. It only takes a few (natural) ingredients to make a lip balm.
Natural cosmetics are becoming increasingly important: In contrast to conventional cosmetics, organic care products do not contain any chemical or artificial ingredients, some of which are suspected of being harmful to our health. In addition, they are usually produced in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way – and that comes at a proud price. For this reason, you can take care of your lips and make your own lip balm. This saves money and you also know exactly which (natural) ingredients were used. Below you will find three different recipe suggestions that you can easily make at home.
Three simple recipes: Make your own lip balm
1st recipe
You need the following three ingredients:
You will also need a few (about six) or in which you can then fill and store the lip balm. And if you like, you can add two to three drops of one to the finished mixture Mix in (for example from cocoa) – for an individual scent note.
Now it’s time to prepare:
- Take a small saucepan, fill it one-third with water and place it on the stove.
- Bring the water to a boil and place a glass or a heat-resistant container in the water.
- Put the three mentioned ingredients in the container and let them melt in the water bath.
- Stir the ingredients until a homogeneous mass is formed – and pour this into the jars.
- Now put the liquid lip balm in a cold place to harden, the refrigerator is best.
2nd recipe
You need the following four ingredients:
Again, you need an estimated five five milliliters each, if you make this lip balm yourself. In this recipe, you can also use to round off. Which fragrance is best is up to your personal taste. In this case, vanilla, for example, would go quite well.
Now it’s time to prepare:
- First melt the beeswax and then the cocoa butter in the same saucepan over a water bath and stir the contents.
- As soon as a homogeneous mass has formed, take the container out of the water bath and stir the jojoba oil evenly into the amount.
- The honey is only stirred in at the end before you add the finished lip balm to the Decant and let it cool down in the refrigerator.
3rd recipe
You need the following four ingredients:
The primarily serves to give the lip balm a nice color. The amount is enough for an estimated two cans – if you want to make more, you just have to adjust the quantities of the ingredients upwards.
Now it’s time to prepare:
- Take another small, heat-resistant container such as a glass or cup and fill it with all the ingredients.
- Here, too, the ingredients have to be melted again over a water bath and stirred until a uniform mass is formed.
- Finally, the finished mass is applied to the divided and stored in a cool place until the lip balm has hardened.
