The creators of the series Homelands, Alex Goose and howard gordon prepare a series based on the 1997 science fiction film Gattaca for the American signal Showtime.

Gansa and Gordon recently co-created the anthology legal drama of Fox “Accused” With David Shore and previously worked on programs such as “24” and “The X-Files”.

Gattaca originally premiered in 1997 and was written and directed by andrew nicoland the film also served as Niccol’s directorial debut. ethan hawke and Uma Thurman they starred together with Jude Law, Alan Arkin, Loren Dean, Ernest Borgnine, Gore Vidal, and Xander Berkeley. It was produced by Sony’s Columbia Pictures and Danny DeVito’s Jersey Films.

The film takes place in the near future in which human beings use eugenics to detect possible genetic defects in their children, creating a subclass of so-called “invalids”. Vincent (Hawke), a conventionally born “invalid”, assumes the identity of a genetically superior person (Law) to fulfill his dream of space travel.

The film was not a commercial success upon its release, grossing only $12.5 million against a reported budget of $36 million. However, it received an Academy Award nomination for Best Art Direction and a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Score. Since then, it has become a cult classic.
