The trigger was a posting by “Kurier” editor-in-chief Martina Salomon, as “Krone” editor-in-chief Klaus Herrmann of APA confirmed a “standard” report. Salomon attested to the “Krone” about “partly to blame for the hostility towards technology and science in the country” and said “anyone who voluntarily reads ‘Krone’ can’t be helped anyway”.
Salomon’s post caused “dismay and outrage” in the editorial office of the “Kronen Zeitung”, Herrmann stated on APA request. The works council and editorial board protested in the strongest possible terms and rejected the form and content of these statements. He also approached the editor-in-chief with a request to end the cooperation with “Club 3”. “I followed this request out of conviction, so we are ending the cooperation on the ‘Club 3’ TV format with immediate effect,” says Herrmann. Salomon did not respond to APA request.
The Polittalk was launched in 2021. Journalists from the three media houses invite a guest from politics or the media to an interview. “Club 3” was always shown on Saturdays at 8:15 p.m. on schauTV and krone.tv. At the start of the format, a broadcast stated that further joint projects were to follow.
