Beyond the shock of the last chapter, there was a scene that had a great impact on the networks, one that finds Joel (Peter Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) in Salt Lake City running into a giraffe being fed.

For Druckmann and his partner, craig mazinIt was a huge scene, and they spared no expense in adapting it. At the beginning of the ninth and final episode of The Last of Us, titled look for the light, we witness Joel and Ellie’s encounter with the giraffe. Shortly after the episode was broadcast, users of social networks wondered if the animal had been recreated by CGI, as is the case most of the time today.

Others, sensing something strange in the image, rushed to criticize the design. But as HBO later announced, the giraffe is 100% real. His name is Turnip and he is a 12-year-old male who lives at the Calgary Zoo, Canada, where most of the series was filmed. Among the giraffes that this zoo has, Mazin and Druckmann kept the tallest, and they went to the zoo to film the scene.
This, perhaps, explains why some have noticed something strange in the scene, and hastily attributed it to CGI. Although Turnip is a real animal, the scenario in which we see him with Joel and Ellie in the series is not.. The scene does have a lot of CGI after all for the backgrounds created by alex wangand was able to thrive thanks to placing Nabo among various backgrounds and blue screens.
