Fans of the UK royal family can watch the coronation of King Charles III. across dozens of screens across the country. The ceremony on May 6 will be shown on more than 30 large screens in numerous cities, the Ministry of Culture in London announced on Friday.
“The crowning glory will be a magical moment, bringing people together to celebrate the best of Britain over a special weekend in May,” said Editor-in-Chief Lucy Frazer. Thanks to the screens in central places, everyone could have “an unforgettable experience”.
The screens are planned, for example, at Cardiff Castle, in front of Belfast City Hall or in Piccadilly Gardens in the center of Manchester. The government is providing a good one million pounds (1.14 million euros) for this.
The coronation of Charles (74) and his wife Queen Camilla (75) traditionally takes place in London’s Westminster Abbey. Hundreds of thousands of onlookers are expected to arrive. The celebrations will last a total of three days, and on May 8 people in Great Britain will have an additional non-working holiday.
