The Ciudanza 2021 festival begins with contemporary and free proposals

Starting this year, the Artistic Direction of Ciudanza will be in charge of the performing arts director, performer and playwright Silvia Gómez Giusto, who will have the cooperation of the choreographer and dancer Gustavo Lesgart in the role of Artistic Collaborator.

“The city with its architecture, its soundscape and the experiences of those who inhabit it, are in this meeting inspiration and provocation for the creators. This is then an invitation to be captivated by community dance ”, commented Gómez Giusto in statements to the press ahead of the festival.

In this regard, the Buenos Aires Minister of Culture, Enrique Avogadro, pointed out that Ciudanza “celebrates the movement of the City”: “Proposals like these are the ones that put us at the forefront in matters of culture in the world. For three days we will be able to experience spaces from another perspective and dynamics, “he said.

Meanwhile, among the works that will be part of the grid of activities, which were selected in different open calls throughout the country through the “Open Culture” plan, there will also be presentations made in partnership with the “Art in Neighborhoods” program. -which focuses on promoting cultural activity in vulnerable neighborhoods- and activities within the framework of “Pala-Pala”, a proposal for childhood that crosses play and dance.

Ciudanza will kick off its 2021 edition on Friday at 5 pm on 130 Peru Street, with the performance “Momentum, ephemeral atmosphere”, by Camila Almeida; followed at 18 by “Nada es una cosa”, directed by Bárbara Hang, and at 19 by “Vivir sells”, by Mayra Bonard.

Meanwhile, at 18 but in the La Vidriera space of the General Directorate of Artistic Education (DGEART), located in Peru 374, the work in process “Future Creations” will be carried out, in charge of three resident artists of the institution.

Finally, the closing of the first day will take place at 9:30 p.m. at the Mercedes Sosa Foundation (Humberto 1 ° 378), with the show “Morenada, a dance that travels”, with Carlos Casella, Yuvinka Sejas Camacho and the members of the La Morenada group, from Barrio 31.
