Andrew Lloyd Webber’s son had stomach cancer
Nicholas, who also worked as a composer, suffered from stomach cancer. Andrew Lloyd Webber recently revealed his son had been battling the disease for 18 months. In one, the 75-year-old said his son had also contracted pneumonia and was being placed in a hospice.
In order to be able to be with his son, Lloyd Webber had canceled the official premiere of his musical “Cinderella” in New York – in a new production entitled “Bad Cinderella”. “I’m absolutely disappointed not to be able to be there but my place is really here in England at the moment,” he said.
Nicholas was Lloyd Webber’s eldest son and was from the composer’s first marriage. The Briton was married to Sarah Hugill from 1971 to 1983. He has one daughter with her. Webber’s second marriage to singer Sarah Brightman remained childless. The artist has been married to the rider Madeleine Gurdon since 1991. The couple have three children together.
Andrew Lloyd Weber is best known for his numerous musicals. In the eighties he created classics like “Cats”, “Starlight Express” and “The Phantom of the Opera”. He’s also one of the few artists to have won all four of America’s entertainment industry awards: Emmy, Oscar, Tony and Grammy.
