Diagonale: “Vera” is best feature film

“Souls of a River” by Christ Krikellis won the title of best documentary. Both prizes are endowed with 21,000 euros each.

The screenplay of “Vera”, a story about an unsuccessful actress who develops a relationship with a little boy and his father, had already received an award in March.

The acting awards, each endowed with 3000 euros, went to Pia Hierzegger (“Family Dinner”) and Gerhard Liebmann (“Eismayer”). The City of Graz’s Diagonale Prize for innovative cinema (8,500 euros) went to “C-TV (If I tell you, I like you…)” by Eva Egermann and Cordula Thym.

Audience for Mückstein film

In the short films category, David Lapuch’s “Cornetto im Gras” was awarded best feature film (6500 euros) and Karin Berger’s “Wankosttättn” was awarded best documentary film (6000 euros).

The youth jury of the state of Styria awarded “Land der Berge” by Olga Kosanovic as the best newcomer film (5500 euros). The audience award, worth 3,000 euros, went to “Feminism WTF” by Katharina Mückstein.

In the “Editing” category (EUR 3,000 each), Felix Leitner received awards for the feature film “Menuett” and Lisa Zoe Geretschläger for the documentary “Souls of a River”. The feature film “Corsage” (Judith Kaufmann) and the documentary film “27 Storeys” (Klemens Koscher) were convincing in terms of image design.

The sound design prizes went to Lenja Gathmann (“Family Dinner”) and Clemens Endreß (“Everyman and I – A Portrait in 3 Chapters”). “Corsage” was also convincing in terms of production design (Martin Reiter). “The Animal in the Jungle” was awarded for the best costume design (Claire Dubien). The prizes for composition, each endowed with 1500 euros, went to Karwan Marouf for the feature film “Stars under the City” and to Gil Chéri for the documentary film “Wo ist Ida?”.

Samsara Filmproduktion and Graf Filmproduktion (“Rubikon”), Aichholzer Filmproduktion (“Rotzbub”) and Film AG (“Corsage”) each receive 7,000 euros for “outstanding production achievements”. The Kodak Analogue Film Prize, worth 1,800 euros, went to “I Am Here!” by Ludwig Wust.
