In this fourth season, Netflix decided, as it has been doing with many of its series, to divide the story into two installments. The first five chapters show new villains, the same murders and present a scenario in which nothing is as it seems. Joe Goldberg he is cornered between his demons and the need to be the hero of the story.
Continuing with the original strategy of being told with a voice-over by the protagonist, the first part of this fourth season is detective and police in the Agatha Christie style, where murders take place and everyone is a suspect. It has a nod to Rear Window, that marvel of Alfred Hitchcock, due to the suspense and the clear allusion to Joe Goldberg spying on Kate’s movements through the window of his apartment right in front of hers and is even encouraged to play with humor at times.
The second half has a challenging vertigo. And it is there, when the plot begins to repeat itself with the previous seasons, that Penn Badgley He comes to the rescue with the best of his performance so far in the series. His looks, his tones and his gestures manage to immerse the viewer in the madness and suffering of the character.

And the chaos begins (at times bordering on the absurd). Chaos necessary to avoid making the plot repetitive and for the story to move forward. With several twists, an unexpected heroine and the return of an old acquaintance, the finale of the fourth season of You repeats the formula of keeping the viewer attentive until the end and showing them that nothing that seemed to be happening is really what was happening. In this way, the end of the series does not stop surprising and revealing data until almost the last scene.
This psychological suspense series seemed to vanish and fall into a constant loop, but its writers have managed to change the axis of the story without losing its essence. And they even knew how to leave the door open to a new season without overwhelming the viewer.
