The streaming platform outbid several other outlets for its corporate brother’s project and has committed to developing it.
The new series of Paramount+ it would be De Niro’s second starring role in a television series. He will also star in the six-episode thriller Zero Day of Eric Newmanobtained a limited series order in Netflix.
Bobby Meritorious is set in the US Attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York. When Avery “The Sage” Accomando, an informant in the bureau’s biggest case, is about to tear this storied institution apart, only one man can stop him: a legendary ex-cop turned prosecutor known as Bobby Merorious (De Niro). The battle between these two giants is a fight for justice itself.
Ray is a writer and executive producer. De Niro will executive produce through his Tribeca Productions banner, along with the company’s Jane Rosenthal and Berry Welsh. Peter Gethers and Preet Bharara, a former US Attorney in the SDNY office, are also executive producers.
On the cinema side, De Niro’s upcoming films include Wise Guys for the manager Barry Levinson and Killers of the Flower Moonwhich is his tenth collaboration with Martin Scorsese.
