Michael J. Fox has revealed that his experiences with paparazzi pushed him to make his Parkinson’s disease public.
Michael J. Fox (60) revealed in an interview that paparazzi were the reason he shared his Parkinson’s disease with the public. “It was seven or eight years after I was diagnosed. The paparazzi were standing outside my apartment and cursing me and saying, ‘What’s wrong with you?'” Says Fox.
In 1998 he spoke about his diagnosis for the first time. “I said to myself that I couldn’t do this to my neighbors and so I made it public. It was a great thing,” said the actor, who had had Parkinson’s disease since the early 1990s, looking back positively on the situation. It was a great surprise to him “that people reacted the way they reacted – with interest and a great desire to find an answer to the disease.”
